VITEM IX - Investment
General information
A temporary investor Visa may be granted to foreign citizens who:
1. Will represent a financial institution or a business group that will carry out direct investment in a company established in Brazilian territory;
2. With their own financial resources wish to invest in Brazilian firms, with the creation of new jobs;
3. With their own financial resources wish to reside in Brazil to invest in innovation or basic/applied research in the fields of science and technology;
4. Will acquire real estate (in the form of one or more units) in value at least equal to or above R$ 700.000,00 (seven hundred thousand Brazilian reais), if the purchase is made in the Brazilian North or Northeast, or R$ 1.000.000,00 (one million Brazilian reais), if the purchase is made elsewhere within Brazil.
Please notice that all VITEM IX applications must be initially put through the Brazilian Ministry of Justice and Public Security. Only after an authorization is issued and the Consulate is notified by the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs should the application be submitted at the Consulate. We cannot answer questions as to how the applications in Brazil should be done.

How to apply
Visa applications are processed exclusively by prior appointment through the e-Consular system. All required documentation must be submitted via the e-Consular platform for review and approval by the Consulate. Applications submitted by post will not be processed.
Once your application is submitted, it will be review by a consular officer. If there are any issues with the documentation, the applicant will be notified by email and asked to provide the necessary corrections or additional documents through the system.
After the application is approved, another email notification will be sent with instructions to schedule the date and time of your appointment at the Consulate through the e-Consular system.

Online form, filled and printed out and signed. The picture and signature must be scanned and added onto the online form. Attention: the website of the online form is SAFE! In case your browser says the website is a security threat, click here to see how to avoid it. Attention: the name of the parents of the applicant must be written in full and with all names (given, middle and surnames). |

Passport valid for at least another six months at the date of entry in Brazil, and with two free pages. |

Passport picture (ICAO standard picture – in color, white background, face must be neutral). |

Original of the birth certificate or another document containing the names of both parents. |

Payment of the consular fee should preferably be made via bank transfer. For other forms of payment, click here.
The Visa Fee will not be reimbursed in case of:
(i) the Visa is denegated;
(ii) the Visa is not issued;
(iii) the applicants give up the trip.
