Marital status statement
The Consular Declaration of Marital Status is intended to certify the marital status of a Brazilian citizen who wishes to marry before an authority within this jurisdiction, or who needs it for other purposes.

Original Brazilian photo ID
|
Present: - Brazilian passport, even if expired;
- Identity card (RG);
- Professional ID issued by a public agency or by a professional regulatory body, provided it is recognized by federal law as a valid identity document nationwide;
- Driver’s license (CNH), even if expired, issued by DETRAN;
- Indigenous identity card;
- FUNAI statement certifying the authenticity of the personal data of a non-integrated indigenous person;
- Work and Social Security Card (CTPS); or
- Digital identification document provided it is recognized by federal law as valid nationwide. Note: Documents that do not allow full identification of the holder, whether due to age, erasure, or damage, will not be accepted and the request will be refused.

Proof of nationality and marital status
|
a) if the applicant is single: Brazilian birth certificate issued within the last six months; b) if the applicant is divorced: Brazilian marriage certificate issued within the last six months, containing the divorce annotation; or c) if the applicant is widowed: Brazilian marriage certificate with an annotation regarding the spouse’s death, or a marriage certificate without the annotation, together with the spouse’s death certificate. Note: Consular birth or marriage certificates will not be accepted for the issuance of a marital status declaration. If you only have a consular registration, it is necessary to carry out the [transcription of the certificate in Brazil] before applying for this service.
