Recognition of signature by similarity
Signature recognition by similarity, carried out by comparing signatures, is only possible if your signature is already registered with the Consulate.
Signature recognition is a specific service. The request for other consular services does not result in the registration of a signature at this Consulate. To check if your signature is on file, please send an inquiry to consular.lusaca@itamaraty.gov.br.
In some cases, the authority receiving the document requires that the signature be recognized by authenticity, which can only be carried out in person by the signatory (examples: the Federal Police passport application form and the re-registration form with INSS and other public institutions). The authorization form for a minor’s travel, on the other hand, can be recognized either by authenticity or by similarity.
It is recommended to check with the receiving authority which type of signature recognition is required.
