Courtesy Visa (VICOR)
Who can apply for a VICOR?
The Courtesy Visa (VICOR) applies to the following cases:
a) foreign personalities and authorities on an unofficial trip to Brazil;
b) spouse or partner, regardless of gender, dependents and direct family members (grandparents, parents, children or stepchildren, grandchildren, etc.) who do not benefit from a dependency visa of foreigner with a Diplomatic/Official Visa;
c) private employee of a Diplomatic/Official/Courtesy Visa beneficiary;
d) domestic workers of a Diplomatic Mission based in Brazil;
e) foreign artists and athletes who come to Brazil for a free event, of an eminently cultural nature, without receiving fees in Brazilian territory, upon formal request, in writing, from the local Chancellery or from a foreign Diplomatic Mission. Athletes coming to Brazil for training and/or to take part in competitions DO NOT qualify for a Courtesy Visa;
For stays over 90 days, holders of this type of visa must register with the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs within 30 days of entry in the country and submit a copy of the visa application form provided by this Embassy.
REQUIREMENTS
a) Visa application form, signed with passport-sized photo attached (click here for instructions);
b) Passport, valid for a minimum of six months after planned arrival in Brazil. Passport must have at least two blank pages.
c) Diplomatic note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or Diplomatic Mission from the applicant's country of origin;
d) Criminal Record Certificate, must have been issued less than six months ago;
e) In case of private employees of a Diplomatic/Official/Courtesy Visa beneficiary: a copy of the work contract (must abide by Brazilian labour laws);
f) Any other support documents related to the trip.
