CATS & DOGS
The European Pet Passport is valid to travel to European countries only, not to Brazil.
Cats and dogs who have ever had leishmaniasis cannot be brought into Brazil.
Cats and dogs younger than 90 days at the date the International Veterinary Certificate is issued may travel to Brazil without a rabies vaccine, while Denmark and Lithuania are considered rabies-free countries (https://www.who.int/data/gho/data/themes/topics/rabies).
Cats and dogs 90 days and older at the date the International Veterinary Certificate is issued must be vaccinated against rabies. If this is their first vaccine against rabies, it must be given more than 21 days before the trip to Brazil.
Less than 15 days before the International Veterinary Certificate is issued, the animal must receive treatment against internal and external parasites.
Less than 10 days before the International Veterinary Certificate is issued, the animal must be seen by a veterinarian, who will attest that the animal does not have diseases from infections or parasites.
To travel with cats and dogs from the European Union to Brazil, the following International Veterinary Certificate must be filled out:
The International Veterinary Certificate must be signed by an official veterinarian. In Denmark, the list of official veterinarians can be found at https://foedevarestyrelsen.dk.
The International Veterinary Certificate must then be apostilled. In Denmark, the apostille is issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (https://um.dk/en/travel-and-residence/legalisation-frontpage/legalisation-danish). In Lithuania, by a notar (https://www.notarurumai.lt/en/notaries/35).
The International Veterinary Certificate is valid for 60 days from the date of issuance, as long as the vaccine against rabies is valid.
