Notes
When acquiring another nationality, it is recommended to keep the same name as the original Brazilian nationality, as Brazilian law does not allow consular civil registration, such as marriage registration, in cases where the Brazilian citizen's name was changed at the time of acquiring foreign nationality, even if it is proven that the citizen also has Brazilian citizenship.
Brazilians who acquire another nationality may request the loss of their Brazilian nationality by means of a written, express and voluntary manifestation submitted to the Ministry of Justice.
