On 26 August 2025, the Second Meeting of Focal Points of the South Atlantic Peace and Cooperation Zone (ZOPACAS) took place. The meeting, held in virtual format, brought together representatives of several ZOPACAS member states and served as a preparatory milestone for the Ninth Ministerial Meeting of the group, scheduled for 2026 in Rio de Janeiro, when Brazil will assume the presidency of the Zone, currently held by Cabo Verde. During the meeting, ongoing initiatives to strengthen cooperation in the South Atlantic were discussed, including proposals for a technical seminar of the group, senior officials’ meetings, and capacity-building activities.
