The II Brazil-Africa Dialogue on Food Security, Fight Against Hunger and Rural Development will take place from 20 to 22 May 2025. The event reflects the priority of Brazilian foreign policy to strengthen relations with African countries, guided by shared values and cooperation based on solidarity and mutual respect.
The Dialogue will bring together official delegations from African countries—including Ministers of Agriculture—alongside representatives of international organisations, multilateral development banks, research institutions, family-farming organisations and cooperatives, and private-sector entities.
Building on the success of its first edition in 2010, the meeting seeks to foster the exchange of knowledge and successful experiences to strengthen local food production in African countries and to reflect on Brazilian experiences in light of observations offered by the African delegations.
Its main objectives include sharing experience in agricultural and aquaculture production, exchanging knowledge and technologies, discussing the role of effective public policies, addressing research and innovation, valuing family farming and sustainability, identifying new opportunities for technical cooperation, exploring financing and investment alternatives, and presenting the goals of the Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty. The event is expected to strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation and to encourage sustainable partnerships.
The programme includes field visits on the first two days. On 20 May, visits will take place in the Brasília area, including CONAB facilities, EMBRAPA units and cooperatives, covering topics such as family farming, integrated production systems, soil health, vegetable genetic resources, bio-inputs, wastewater reuse and marketing. On 21 May, visits will be made to the São Francisco Valley, focusing on EMBRAPA Semi-Arid and producers, and exploring technologies for living with drought, resilient livestock, irrigated agriculture and tropicalised fruit production.
On 22 May the “High-Level Dialogue” will be held, featuring panels on sustainable and resilient agrifood systems; research, development and innovation; the Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty; public policies; and financing.
