Brazilian National Day 2023

Good morning!

My name is Eduardo Gradilone, I am the new ambassador of Brazil to Iran.

Today, November 15th, Brazil celebrates its Republic Day, which this year coincides with the 120th anniversary of our diplomatic relations with Iran. We had prepared a beautiful party to be held at the Brazilian Embassy’s Residence in Tehran. The invitations had been sent to the country's highest authorities, the diplomatic corps, representatives of political, economic, social and cultural institutions, the Brazilian community etc. But at the last minute, without a plausible justification, the building’s administration decided that we were not welcome to hold our national party at the premises, forcing us to cancel everything. Fortunately, for the vast majority of Iranians, Brazil and the Brazilian community are indeed welcome in this country.

It is a pity that this forced cancellation comes when we are at a very favorable moment in our relationship with Iran: we have resumed our political consultations, will soon restart our economic ones and several high-level bilateral visits are in preparation.

We apologize again to everyone for the inconvenience this cancellation may have caused. We also had to cancel the participation of musicians who would perform our national anthems and treat us to a program of Brazilian music.

So, in order not to leave this important date blank, I now make a symbolic salute to celebrate the excellent relations between Brazil and Iran, and I ask that you follow the recordings of our national anthems on social media, since we will not be able to listen to them at our official residence.

I conclude wishing good health, happiness, and success to all Brazilians and Iranians.
