Visas for dependants

Children

1. Descendants under the age of 18, or of any age, when there is evidence that the individual is disabled and cannot provide for him/herself (proof of dependency must be presented); or
2. Descendants from 18 to 24 years old, as long as they are enrolled in undergraduate or postgraduate education, and provided there is reciprocity of treatment in the foreign national's country of origin (proof of reciprocity must be presented).

Please note:

• Stepchildren and minor children who are by court decision under custody / guardianship of the foreign citizen holding a Brazilian visa, or of their spouse / partner, receive equal treatment to the descendants mentioned in item 1).
• The Diplomatic and Official visas may be granted to the single descendants aged between 18 and 21 years old, including stepchildren, even if not enrolled in undergraduate or postgraduate education in Brazil.

Parents

As long as there is evidence that the person concerned requires support (proof of dependency must be presented).

Spouse or partner in stable union

(cohabitation / civil partnership)

Regardless of gender.

Sibling, grandchild, or great-grandchild

Only if orphan, single and under the age of 18, or of any age, when there is evidence that the individual is disabled and cannot provide for him/herself (medical report or court order must be presented).
