Life Certificate

The INSS, through Ordinance No. 1.299, of May 12, 2021, decided to resume, from May 2021, the routine of blocking credits, suspension and cessation of benefits due to lack of proof of life (Proof of life of Life) to beneficiaries residing in Brazil or abroad.

To whom it applies

• Retired individuals and pensioners of the INSS - National Institute of Social Security ("Instituto Nacional do Seguro Social");
• Retired individuals, reservists and pensioners of Federal civil and military government agencies who need to present a declaration of attendance for the purposes of annual registration in the month of their birthdays;
• Active civil servants, retired individuals and pensioners of State and Municipal government agencies, for the purposes of registration or social security census; and
• All those that, for any reason, require proof of living.

Document characteristics

By means of the life certificate, the consular authority declares that the duly identified person was present at the Embassy on a certain date.

For those unable to come to the Embassy in person, the certificate may be replaced by the completed and signed "life certificate form" (see item "How to request" below).

For the purposes of submission to the INSS, the document shall be valid for 90 days.

In-person attendance at the Embassy, with no prior appointment required, bringing the original documents listed above.

SERVICE METHOD

The service is offered exclusively in person, Monday to Friday, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

FOWARDING THE CERTIFICATE

The applicant must send the certificate of life directly to the competent authority.

Processing Time

One business day after receipt of the request at the Embassy of Brazil in Singapore.
