Investment (VITEM IX)
GENERAL RULES
- Based on Normative Resolution 11/2017.
- A temporary visa may be granted to a foreign citizen who will represent a financial institution or a business group that will carry out direct investment in a company established in Brazilian territory.
- Application procedures for this type of visa must be initiated in Brazil through the Brazilian Ministry of Justice and Public Security.
- Once the procedure in Brazil is concluded and approved by the Brazilian Ministry of Justice and Public Security, the authorisation will sent to the Embassy via the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Only then the applicant will be able to proceed and lodge the visa application itself with the Embassy by submitting the documentation listed below.

Valid passport |
Passport valid for at least six months prior to its expiration date and must have at least two blank pages. |

One passport photo |
Photo must be in color, front view, white background, size 4x5 cm (document/passport size), printed in photographic paper and taken recently. The same photo cannot be used for more than one application. |

Police background check |
The document must be issued in English (international model) by the country of residence (if not issued by Norwegian or Icelandic authorities, the documents must be apostilled by the competent authority in the country of origin). If the applicant has lived in multiple countries within the last 12 months, a police background check from each country of residence must be provided. They must also be duly legalised (contain an apostille) by the competent authority in the issuing country and, if necessary, translated by a certified translator. The document must be stamped and signed by the local authority and must be issued not more than 90 days prior to delivery to this Embassy. The electronic version will not be accepted. Please note: police background checks are not required in case of ‘simplified’ authorisations (i.e. for urgent or emergency services), with maximum stays of up to 180 days. |

- all required documents must be scanned and uploaded to the online form. Original documents (items 2 to 5) must be sent with your application (RER).
- the Embassy may request additional information, documentation or even proceed to an interview, as deemed necessary.

The name of the sender must be written on the envelope. It is also necessary to include a self-addressed, prepaid return envelope. The Embassy cannot be held responsible for lost or delayed mail.

REGISTRATION WITH THE FEDERAL POLICE
Holders of this type of visa must register with the Federal Police within 90 days from first entry in Brazil. Contact the Federal Police directly to learn how to register.
LENGTH OF STAY IN BRAZIL
Granted period: indefinite leave.
Validity: visa is valid for 1 year. This means that the applicant must use the visa within 1 year from date of issue before expiration.
FAMILY REUNION
Dependants (spouse, partner, children, other) may be granted a Family Reunion Visa (VITEM XI), bound to the primary VITEM V application, thus subject to the same conditions (e.g. same length of stay etc.). Family applications may be lodged jointly or after the primary applicant’s VITEM V has been issued.
