Marriage celebration at the Consular Office
General Information
The service may be requested by Brazilian nationals over the age of 16. At least one of the spouses must reside within the jurisdiction of the Embassy of Brazil in Lusaka.
For Brazilians under 18 (eighteen) years of age, parental consent from both parents or legal guardians is required.
For the marriage celebration, the presence of two adult witnesses is required. They must attest to knowing the spouses, confirm their residence and marital status, and declare the absence of any legal impediment to the marriage.
IMPORTANT: Notwithstanding Brazilian legislation, same-sex marriages can only be celebrated at consular offices located in countries that also allow the union of same-sex couples. Otherwise, applicants are advised to carry out the marriage in Brazil.
To request this service at the Embassy of Brazil in Lusaka, please gather the required documentation:
ATTENTION: Any document that does not allow full identification of the holder, whether due to age, erasure, or tear, will not be accepted and the request will be denied.

Processing time
Up to 7 business days after receipt of the request at the Embassy of Brazil in Lusaka.
According to the Brazilian Civil Code, the marriage celebration ceremony may only take place within a minimum of 15 days and a maximum of 90 days from the date of submission of the documents.
