Residence certificate for minors
General Information
Target audience:
- Brazilian minors who are proven residents within the jurisdiction of the consular office.
As this is a more restricted and non-free document, it is advisable that it be used preferably in cases where the parent who should authorize the trip:
- is of unknown whereabouts;
- is unable to sign the document for physical or legal reasons; or
- resides in Brazil and refuses to sign the travel authorization for the child to return with the custodial parent to their country of residence.
Document Characteristics
- Replaces, for the purpose of leaving the national territory, the travel authorization of one of the parents or legal guardians, since it proves that the minor resides abroad and, upon leaving Brazil, will return to their country of residence (jurisdiction of the consular office);
- Can only be used when the minor is traveling in the company of one of the parents or legal guardians;
- Cannot be used when the minor is traveling alone or in the company of third parties;
- Unlike other forms of authorization, it is not sufficient for the minor to travel within Brazil, which requires specific authorization from the parent(s) or legal guardian(s);
- The certificate must be presented to immigration control in its original form or as a certified copy. A simple or certified copy of the document, to be provided by the applicant, will be retained at the time of boarding, together with a copy of the minor’s identification document.
To request this service from the Embassy of Brazil in Lusaka, gather the required documentation:
ATTENTION: Documents that do not allow full identification of the holder, whether due to age, erasure, or damage, will not be accepted and the request will be refused.
