Proof of life
ATTENTION: The INSS, through Ordinance No. 1,299 of May 12, 2021, decided to resume, as of May/2021, the routine of blocking payments, suspending, and terminating benefits due to failure to carry out the proof of life procedure of its beneficiaries.
General Information
The proof of life certificate aims to confirm that the citizen, Brazilian or foreign, is alive and therefore eligible to continue receiving a benefit or pension from the National Social Security Institute (INSS), a retirement or pension from Public Agencies, retirement pay or pension from the Armed Forces, among others.

Biometric verification through the “Meu INSS” and “Gov.br” apps (without visiting the Embassy) |

Submission of a specific proof of life form for INSS (without visiting the Embassy) |
If it is not possible to visit the Embassy, proof of life may be carried out through the following forms:
IMPORTANT: The form must be completed and signed in the presence of a local notary (signature recognition in person) and subsequently apostilled by the competent local authorities (in the case of Malawi), or legalized by the Brazilian consular office (in the case of Zambia). |

Brazilian citizens: - Brazilian passport, even if expired; or - Identity card (RG); or - Professional ID issued by a public agency or by a professional regulatory body, provided it is recognized by federal law as a valid identity document nationwide; or - Driver’s license (CNH), even if expired, issued by DETRAN; or - Indigenous identity card; or - FUNAI statement certifying the authenticity of the personal data of a non-integrated indigenous person; or - Work and Social Security Card (CTPS); or - Digital identification document provided it is recognized by federal law as valid nationwide. Foreign citizens: - National Migration Registration Card, valid or expired, as long as the photo allows identification of the holder; or - Foreign passport, valid or expired, as long as the photo allows identification of the holder; or - Valid foreign identity document. IMPORTANT: Documents that do not allow full identification of the holder, due to age, erasure, or damage, will not be accepted and the request will be refused. |

APO-2 Form (only for retirees or pensioners of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – MRE) |
Retirees or pensioners of the MRE must complete the APO-2 Form and appear annually at the Embassy of Brazil in Lusaka, during their birth month, with photo identification and CPF. |

It is recommended that payment be made directly at the bank branch, according to the following details:

The bank receipt must be presented along with the exchange rate, if applicable.
Submission of the Proof of Life
The applicant must forward the proof of life certificate directly to the competent authority.
Processing Time
Up to 7 business days after the request is received at the Embassy of Brazil in Lusaka.
