CPF (Brazilian Tax Identification Number)
The CPF registration number should be requested by Brazilians and foreigners who own assets and rights in Brazil subject to public registration, such as:
- real estate,
- vehicles,
- vessels,
- aircraft,
- corporate interests,
- bank accounts,
- financial market investments, among others.
The CPF registration number is assigned only once, and is free of charge.
For foreigners, the CPF must be obtained mandatory through the Consular Section of the Embassy of Brazil in Kuala Lumpur. In this case, the applicant must schedule an appointment first (https://forms.gle/HQ9qz1hE1rdsRebz7) and, at the scheduled date and time, present the following original documents:
- Printed Individual Registration Form (FCPF) - https://servicos.receita.fazenda.gov.br/Servicos/CPF/cpfEstrangeiro/Fcpf.asp;
- Identification document (passport, ID card, or Malaysian residence document);
- Birth certificate.
Starting January 13, 2025, all foreign individuals with an address abroad must re-register their CPF numbers annually. These updates must be carried out through the Federal Revenue's application, available for Android and iOS platforms.
