Work Visa - VITEM V
Rules and regulation:
- This type of visa is required for foreign citizens traveling to Brazil for work purposes, with or without an employment relationship in the country.
- In case of employment relationship, the applicant must provide proof of a job contract.
- For applicants without an employment contract, proof of a job offer with a Brazilian company is required.
- Issuance of work visas (VITEM V) will follow guidelines set out by the Brazilian National Immigration Council (CNIg).
- Please note that it is the sole responsibility of the sponsoring institution or company to carry out all the formalities at the Ministry of Labour in Brazil for the work visa .
- Work visas can only be processed at the Consular Section once a visa approval notice is issued by the Brazilian Ministry of Labour.
- Work visas will be good for multiple entries within authorized duration.
- Length of stay in the country for holders of a temporary visa will be the same as the period of the visa validity, unless otherwise stated.
Requirements:
- Fill in the visa application form online at: https://formulario-mre.serpro.gov.br
- Print out the receipt page of the form, sign it on the appropriate field (the same way you sign your passport), and glue a recent picture (passport photo) in the indicated space. The picture must have white background.
- All applicants must upload their photo, signature and other documents while filling in the application form.
The receipt page of the form must be submitted to the Consular Section, along with the following documentation:
- Passport, valid for at least six months (the Consular Section of the Embassy reserves the right not to endorse soiled, damaged or defaced passports). The passport must have at least two blank pages.
- Visa authorization notice (issued by the Brazilian authorities).
- Certificate of vaccination, if necessary (see information on vaccinations).
- Introduction letter from the applicant’s sponsoring institution.
- Police Certificate, issued within the last 3 months, certifying absence of criminal record.
- Proof of payment of consular fees (original lodgment receipt only, duly stamped by the bank).
Please note that the requirements listed above should not, in any way, be considered all inclusive. The Consular Section reserves the right to request additional information and/or documentation when deemed necessary.

The consular fee for the VITEM V varies according to the nationality of the applicant: Check with Consular Section fee to be paid if you are not a Zimbabwean national.
