VISIT VISA
Beaware that Brazil does not issue Transit Visas. If you have a connecting international flight in a Brazilian airport you do not need a visa.
Visit Visas are aimed at foreign nationals who would like to visit Brazil for maximum stays of up to 90 days. First Entry within 90 days from date of issue
Visa issued to those intending to travel for the following purposes:
- tourism;
- business;
- artistic and sports activities;
- participation in conferences, seminars, congresses, workshops, and corporate fairs and events;
- study, research, teaching or academic extension;
- internship, journalistic and press coverage, filming and news reporting;
- volunteer services;
- auditing or consultancy
- aircraft and vessel crew (seaman);
- medical treatment - adoption.
How to apply for a Visit Visa
The first step: Register online to obtain a Protocol Number at
https://formulario-mre.serpro.gov.br/sci/pages/web/ui/#/cidadao-nacionalidade
- Click on CIDADAO ESTRANGEIRO and then click VISA. Fill in the online form and upload ALL supporting documents.
- Click "SUBMIT" to receive your processing number and receipt (Visa Request Form Receipt - RER).
- Print the receipt (Visa Request Form Receipt - RER). The application form completed (filled-in) online is valid for ONE month only.
- Attach one (01) recent individual 3x4 size photograph, in color, front view, full face and white background.
- Sign the receipt in the box provided.
- Bring to the Consular Section of the Embassy the duly completed and signed receipt, together with the original documentation and passport. Submissions are done Monday to Friday between 9am and 1pm.
Required Documents (the Consular Officer processing the visa can ask for additional documents if deemed necessary)
- Original Passport (valid for at least six more months after arrival date to Brazil). The passport must have at least 2 (two) blank visa pages. Please note that the amendment pages are not intended for visas (the Embassy reserves the right not to endorse soiled or defaced passports);
- Application form, completed and signed;
- Round-trip ticket reservation or booked itinerary reservation or letter from a travel agent under applicant’s name, with complete itinerary, flight number and arrival/departure dates and reservation code provided by the airline company;
- Hotel reservation (name, address & telephone number) or name and address of intended accommodation;
[NOTE:You should never pay for travel arrangements (e.g., airfare, hotels) without having the necessary visa in your possession. The Embassy of Brazil accepts no responsibility if you do so, nor will we expedite processing because you have fixed travel dates. You risk significant financial losses if you ignore this advice.].
- Proof of personal employment, personal occupation. Letter from employer and/or sponsoring company, clearly stating the precise nature of business, dates or arrival and departure, and financial responsibility for the costs of the trip (the letter must be on an official company letterhead, signed by a senior manager, introducing the applicant and specifying his/her job/position in the company);
- Proof of personal income (latest three months personal bank account statements, latest three months personal international credit card statements, personal income tax filing receipt and statement);
- Invitation letter to the conference or seminar etc., in Brazil (when applicable).
- For non-Zimbabweans - proof of legal residence in Zimbabwe in the form of a valid temporary or permanent residence Zimbabwe visa (or equivalent document issued by the Government of Zimbabwe), or issued by a country within this Embassy's jurisdiction.
- Applicants intending to take part in the production/filming of documentary, commercial or advertisement videos or motion pictures must submit an authorization from ANCINE - Agência (Ministério da Cultura - Secretaria para o Desenvolvimento Audiovisual), which is to be obtained by the interested party/representative in Brazil prior to the issuance of the visa.
Additional visa requirements for applicants under 18 years old:
- Both parents must sign the receipt page (Visa Request Form Receipt - RER) in the appropriate signature box;
- Letter of consent from both parents. Please note that the authorization is requested from both parents in any situation (even when the minor is travelling accompanied by both or only by one of the parents).
- If the application is not lodged by the parents in person, the absent parent (s) must sign the form before a Notary Public, and present notarized copies of parent's ID and unabridged birth certificate of the minor. The letter must also indicate the person responsible for the applicant.
Consular Fees
Visa Fees are Deposited into the Consular Account and Applicants must submit the deposit slip together with the visa application documents

- Please note that each traveller is expected to show proof of a minimum personal income of US$100.00 free funds available for each day intended to stay in Brazil. If you are in transit, each day you pass through Brazil will be counted as one day.
- Processing time is 5 working days from receipt of documents and payment. The Embassy DOES NOT facilitate the issuance of EXPRESS VISAS therefore applicants are advised to lodge applications in good time
