VITEM XI - FAMILY REUNION VISA
A Family Reunion Visa - VITEM XI may be granted to persons who qualify as being “called” by a Brazilian citizen or by an immigrant who is a beneficiary of a residence permit in Brazil (the "callers") . Individuals who are beneficiaries of a visa or residence permit for family reunification are not permitted to act as callers. The maximum validity period of the visa is 12 months.
🔹 VITEM XI can be granted to foreigners of the following categories:
I - spouses or partners of Brazilians or immigrants who are beneficiaries of a residence permit;
II - children of Brazilians or immigrants who are beneficiaries of a residence permit;
III - stepchildren of Brazilians or immigrants who have been granted residence permits, provided they are under 18 years of age, or up to 24 years of age if they are proven to be students, or of any age if they are proven to be financially dependent on the applicant;
IV - who have Brazilian children;
V - who have immigrant children who have been granted residence permits;
VI - ascendant up to the second degree of a Brazilian or an immigrant beneficiary of a residence permit;
VII - descendant up to the second degree of a Brazilian or an immigrant beneficiary of a residence permit;
VIII - sibling of a Brazilian or immigrant beneficiary of a residence permit, provided they are under eighteen years of age, or up to twenty-four years of age if they are a student, or of any age if they are proven to be financially dependent on the sponsor; or
IX - who has a Brazilian under their guardianship, curatorship, or custody.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
- The online application form must be completed using the applicant's full name exactly as it appears in the passport. Applications with mismatched names will not be approved.
- Visa conditions and fees vary based on the applicant’s nationality and purpose of visit, as per reciprocity agreements.
- A visa is an expectation, not a right, and the Consular Authority may request additional documentation or schedule an interview at their discretion.
- General requirements may change without prior notice.
- The Family Reunion Visa (VITEM XI) is granted ONLY if the applicant intends to reside permanently in Brazil.
📝 HOW TO APPLY
Step 1 – Complete the Online Application
a) Fill out the online visa application form completely;
b) Upload all mandatory documents (check below) to the system;
c) Make sure the uploaded photo is recent, with a white or neutral background, and
d) Save or print the Visa Application Receipt (RER) after submission.
Important: Incomplete or incorrect applications will delay the process.
Step 2 – Send Documents by E-mail
Email the following to consular.doha@itamaraty.gov.br:
a) Visa Application Receipt (RER) – with all documents and photo uploaded;
b) Copy of all mandatory documents, and
c) Payment receipt (see details below).
📄 Mandatory Documents
From the Brazilian Citizen (Caller / Chamante):
- Brazilian Passport
- Brazilian Birth Certificate
- Brazilian ID (RG)
- Signed Responsibility Maintenance Form
- Handwritten declaration stating they reside or will reside in Brazil (under penalty of law)
- Travel ticket to Brazil (if applicable)
From the Applicant:
- Printed and signed Visa Application Form (completed online)
- Birth or Marriage Certificate, translated into English (if originally in Arabic)
- Document proving kinship with the Brazilian caller
- Qatari ID
- Passport
- Police Clearance Certificate
- Declaration stating the Brazilian caller resides or will reside in Brazil (under penalty of law)
- Travel ticket to Brazil
- Proof of sufficient financial means (e.g., recent bank statement, company or sponsor letter)
If the Applicant is a Minor (Under 18)
The following additional documents are required:
- Passports and IDs of both parents
- A written authorization signed by both parents for visa issuance
- The Visa Application Form must be signed in front of the Brazilian Consular Authority
📬 After Submission
If the visa is approved, you will receive an email with the scheduled date for visa collection.
