AUTHENTICATED COPY OF DOCUMENTS
AUTHENTICATED COPY OF DOCUMENTS
Important information
A Consular authentication of a document only confirms that the photocopy corresponds faithfully to the original document presented by the applicant. It does not serve as confirmation that the document is authentic or valid in Brazil. Confirmation of the authenticity of the original Brazilian document, for the purposes of presentation abroad, must be carried out through legalization with the competent authorities in Brazil.
The original document must be presented when the authenticated photocopy is being collected and must be in good condition and legible. Photocopies of documents that are: torn; damaged; laminated, if they did not originally provide for lamination; adulterated; or with illegible passages will not be authenticated.
The consular authority can only authenticate a photocopy of a foreign document whose original has already been apostilled or legalized by a Brazilian consular office.
If you have any further questions, kindly send your queries to consular.doha@itamaraty.gov.br preferably before paying the consular fee.
HOW TO APPLY:
Send to consular.doha@itamaraty.gov.br
a) a copy of the document to be authenticated;
b) the applicant's identification document, and
b) payment receipt (details below).
Once the e-mail has been sent, your request will be processed and you will be informed of the date and time for the service to be picked up.
At the time of collection, you will need to present the original document. Provided that it is possible to confirm their authenticity electronically, the Consular Authority may authenticate photocopies of documents issued in digital format, under the terms of art. 23, item II, of CNJ Provision 100/2020.
Important observations:
- Brazilian academic documents will not be authenticated without prior legalization in Brazil.
- The Consular Authority may only authenticate a photocopy of a foreign document whose original has been previously legalized by a Brazilian Consular Office (Brazilian Consular Regulation, NSCJ 4.6.12).
- The description of the service as photocopy made “at the office” or “outside the office”, and the consequent difference in price, refers only to the place where the photocopy of the document will be made. The legalization stamp will be the same; the applicant can choose the one they prefer.
- The Brazilian Embassy in Doha does not provide photocopying services to the public. There are no commercial establishments with photocopying services in the vicinity of the Embassy.
