Proof of life certificate (Atestado de Vida)

The proof of life certificate aims to confirm that the citizen, whether Brazilian or foreign, is alive and therefore eligible to continue receiving benefits or pensions from the National Social Security Institute (INSS), public sector retirement or pensions, reserve pay or pensions from the Armed Forces, among others.

How to request this service: 

1. Biometric request through the "Meu INSS" and "Gov.br" apps (without the need to visit the Embassy).

2. Requesting an appointment at the Embassy (follow the steps below): 

• Send an e-mail to consular.ama@itamaraty.gov.br requesting an appointment.

• The Consular Section will schedule your appointment for the earliest day and time available. 

• Pay the JOD 3.55 consular fee at any AJIB branch or by transfer or by Cliq to the account below:

• Attend the scheduled appointment bringing your passport (or RNM Card, valid or nor, or national Id card) and the consular fee payment receipt. Processing time is 3 to 5 working days.
