A power of attorney is a document by which the grantor (the person who gives the power of attorney) transfers powers to the grantee (the person to whom the power of attorney is given) to carry out or administer certain acts on their behalf, such as signing contracts, receiving and withdrawing documents or representing them before public bodies, banks and private companies.
Any lawful act can be the subject of a power of attorney, with the exception of a will, personal testimony and adoption.
Powers of attorney can be made by public or private instrument.
