ENTRY REQUIREMENTS BY AIR
Interministerial Ordinance 670/22
Travelers are advised to consult the airline and Interministerial Ordinance 670/22 (here) regarding the entry requirements to Brazil by air.
A summary of these requirements is presented below.
GENERAL RULE
Fully vaccinated passengers are exempt from testing for Covid-19 and from complying with quarantine upon entering Brazil.
However, proof of full immunization is required for all individuals eligible for vaccination.
Proof of immunization must be presented in Portuguese, English or Spanish, and must contain the following information: a) commercial or manufacturer's name of the vaccine; b) batch number(s) of the dose(s) applied; and c) date(s) of application of the dose(s).
Travelers who have completed the primary vaccination scheme (two doses or a single dose, according to the immunizer) at least 14 days before the date of departure are considered fully vaccinated.
Vaccines approved by the Brazilian National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA), by the World Health Organization (WHO) or by the authorities of the country in which the traveler was immunized are accepted.
The completion of the Traveler's Health Declaration (DSV) is no longer required.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS ACCORDING TO THE DEGREE OF IMMUNIZATION
Foreigners not fully vaccinated are not allowed to enter Brazilian territory, except for cases listed under item II below.
I. Fully vaccinated passengers:
- Brazilians; and
- Foreigners.
Before boarding, they must present a printed or electronic proof of vaccination to the airline company.
They are exempt from testing for Covid-19.
Note: Proof of vaccination exclusively in a QR Code format or exclusively in any other coded language are not accepted. Covid-19 recovery certificates are also not accepted as a replacement for proof of complete vaccination.
II. Not fully vaccinated passengers:
- Brazilians;
- Foreigners residing in Brazil;
- Passengers with health conditions that contraindicate vaccination (attested by a medical report);
- Passengers not eligible for vaccination due to their age; and
- Passengers from countries with low vaccination coverage (note: Canada does not fall into this category).
Before boarding, they must present to the airline a document proving that they have been tested for Covid-19, with negative or non-detectable results. The test should be performed one day before the time of boarding. RT-PCR or antigen tests are accepted.
Connecting or stopover flights:
- If the passenger remains in an airport restricted area during the connection or stopover, retesting for Covid-19 is not required.
- If the passenger leaves the restricted airport area during the connection or stopover, more than one day after the first test, retesting for Covid-19 with a negative result is required.
CHILDREN
- Vaccinated children should follow the general procedures above.
- Unvaccinated children:
• Children under 2 years of age do not need to be tested.
• Children between the ages of 2 and 12 traveling unaccompanied must present a document with a negative or undetectable test result for Covid-19. The test should be a laboratory type RT-PCR or antigen test performed up to one day before departure / entry into the country.
• Children between the ages of 2 and 12 traveling accompanied are exempt from testing for Covid-19, provided that all adult companions present documents with negative or undetectable results. The test should be a laboratory type RT-PCR or antigen test performed up to one day before departure / entry into the country.
