Mandatory documents for temporary residence visa (VITEM) application
- Proof of (full) payment of consular fees.
- Filled out and signed manual form.
- Valid passport ID page.
- Birth certificate (or the equivalent).
- Marriage certificate (or the equivalent) - if the case.
- Proof of address (home or business address).
- Police character (adults only), which the consulate must legalize after the issuance of the vista to have legal effect in Brazil.
Notice: the police character must have been issued no more than 90 days before its presentation to the Brazilian migratory authority (Federal Police), meaning that, in some cases, an updated police character may be required after the issuance of the visa.
- Brazilian CPF registration (required for issuance of Brazilian documents, the opening of bank accounts, school registration, and the like).
- Flight reservation (consider 60-90 days from the application date).
- Hotel reservation (consider 60-90 days from the application date).
Brazilian citizen (both by birth or naturalization:
- self-declaration of civil status and economic dependents in Brazil, attaching corresponding documents (such as updated birth certificate, updated marriage with annotation of divorce). Notice: false declaration and bigamy are a crime under Brazilian law.
- in the case of having other minor children, born in Brazil or born in another country: birth certificate of minor children, notarized declaration of the other parent declaring not be living in the same address as the calling person, proof of registered maintenance commitment, proof of regular payment.
- authenticated copy of birth certificate (certidão de nascimento) or of naturalization certificate (certidão de naturalização)
- authenticated copy of RG/CNH.
- updated certificate of CPF (certificado de regularidade, emitido online).
- police character issued by the Federal Police (emitido online).
- registered maintenance commitment term (termo de manutenção, escritura pública, registrada em cartório.
- proof of labor occupation and income (employed/self-employment) - declaração do imposto de renda também serve como comprovante.
- In the case the calling person is a minor (under 18), the Brazilian parent (or legal custodian) must present all his/her above-listed documents, plus an authenticated copy of the minor´s birth certificate, RG, and CPF.
Non-Brazilian temporary or permanent residents (holders of RNE/RNM):
- Authenticated copy of valid RNE/RNM document.
- In the case of a permanent residence permit, a copy of the DOU publication (extract).
- authenticated (notarized) copy of the Passport (ID page and the page containing the register of the last entry in Brazil, only)
- Nigerian Immigration Service/ECOWAS history travel certificate.
- Brazilian Federal Police declaration of the migratory status and, if possible, travel history certificate.
Called family members – only directly related and economically dependent family members
- copy of valid passport ID page.
- certified copy of the Brazilian document that confirms the migratory status of the calling person and that supports the request for a family reunion.
- notarized copy of the document(s) proving directly family relationship;
- if not espouse or minor child, proof of economic dependence about the calling person.
- in the case of a minor, additional requirements apply:
- travel authorization (consulate form, only), by the parent or legal custodian non-resident in Brazil, signed in the presence of the public notary, who must declare this by writing on the very authorization form (notarized copies of the document are not accepted).
- by the parent or legal custodian resident in Brazil, signed in the presence of the public notary officer (reconhecimento de firma por autenticidade),
- children of school age: officially acknowledged school documents must be legalized by the consulate
