How to apply for visa

BASIC INFORMATION ON ONLINE PROCEDURES FOR VISA APPLICATION

How to apply (online platforms):

1) Create a login: https://ec-lagos.itamaraty.gov.br/renew-pass?new=1

Create a login with e-mail and password.

Use a private e-mail to which you will have access all time, not an institutional or third part e-mail address, and do not forget to write down your password.

2) Fill the online visa application form: https://formulario-mre.serpro.gov.br/sci/pages/web/ui/#/servicos-estrangeiros

The most common visa type is the "visit visa" (VIVIS). If you are applying for a short stay, you must be sure you have the right documents before applying.

3) Apply for appointment: https://ec-lagos.itamaraty.gov.br/

NB: applicants must take care in selecting the right consular service when booking a date. Applying to a different service so to get an earlier appointment date may result in the application being declined.

4) In case you are travelling by invitation to attend an event in Brazil or for a training program or to a business meeting, and are not being able to schedule an appointment, please, send a request for earlier date appointment. Please, as soon as you get the invitation, request from the Brazilian inviting institution to communicate by mail: consular.lagos@itamaaraty.gov.br

5) Visa processing status:

When process is concluded, applicants are informed by e-mail. No step-by-step updates are given by the consular section. In case additional information, document or interview are required, applicants receive the request by e-mail, too.
