Estudo (Student Visa)

Kindly ensure that you have uploaded all the required files to your online visa application form.

For the photo and signature, use a higher quality image format.

For all other documents, you may save space and upload all required documents using a lower quality image format such as GIF.

Here is a list of the required documents:

- Photo and signature: The photo must be an international passport/visa type, 4x4 cm, with a white background and good quality pictures.

- Passport ID page.

- Proof of payment (consular fees) – check the attached files for updated consular fees;

- Soft copy of the manual form.

- Birth certificate.

- Marriage certificate, if applicable.

- Brazilian university letter of acceptance.

- Nigerian academic documents (please do not send original documents).

- Proof of scholarship award or letter of sponsorship (or self-sponsorship).

- In case of family or self-sponsorship, it is mandatory to present the sponsor's bank statement (last three months): Please upload the first, the last, and a random page. The whole set of bank statements must be sent to the consulate along with the passport and other supporting documents.

- Flight reservation.

- Hotel reservation or housing arrangements (letter from the university or proof of address, in this case).

Passport and all supporting documents must be delivered by parcel/courier service, and don't forget to include a pre-paid return envelope.

Please observe the following:

- Original documents: valid passport, notarized documents, and bank statements only. For all other documents, please include hard copies only and do not include non-required original documents.

- Manual form with printed photo: Ensure it meets the international passport/visa type requirements (4x4 cm, white background, and good quality pictures).

- No vaccine card is required.

Please write to consular.lagos@itamaraty.gov.br to confirm full payment of consular fees and upload soft copies of bank slips (proof of payment). Take note of the new consular fees, as indicated in the attached file.

The reviewing process consists of two steps: one in Lagos (by the consular section) and the other in Brasília, Brazil (by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs). Upon arrival, migratory agents (Federal Police) will confirm your authorization to enter the country. Students are supposed to book an appointment with the nearest Federal Police office to obtain their temporary residence permit. It is up to each university to provide information and guidance to their international students.

Please note that visa reviewing process and authorization are not immediate upon presentation of the documents. All applications are submitted to the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Therefore, DO NOT BOOK YOUR FLIGHTS BEFORE HAVING YOUR VISA AUTHORIZED.

In case you need to legalize documents, you must apply at ec-lagos.itamaraty.gov.br

Each applicant is solely responsible for correctly fulfilling all forms, uploading all required documents to the online form, and ensuring they have all the necessary documents as listed above. Incomplete applications will not be processed and will be returned to the applicants
