REDE ANDIFES ISF CALL FOR APPLICATIONS – PORTUGUESE AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE
The National Association of Directors of Federal Higher Education Institutions (ANDIFES), within the scope of the Rede ANDIFES Idiomas sem Fronteiras (IsF), in line with the objective of promoting internationalisation through language education, announces this public call for applications to fill available places for free online Portuguese as a Foreign Language (PFL) courses.
This document outlines the criteria, procedures, and deadlines for the selection of candidates interested in participating in the Rede ANDIFES IsF courses.
1. COURSE DESCRIPTION
1.1 Format
- The courses will be conducted exclusively online and are free of charge.
- Classes will be taught synchronously, with two live online sessions per week.
- Each session will last two hours, amounting to four hours per week of instructional time.
- Classes will be held via a virtual platform (Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, or another).
1.2 Target Audience
- The courses are open to foreigners worldwide.
- No prior connection to a Brazilian university is required.
- Some courses require no prior knowledge of Portuguese, while others have language level prerequisites.
1.3 Course Levels
- Courses are structured according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
- Levels offered: Beginner (A1), Elementary (A2), Intermediate (B1), Upper-Intermediate (B2), Advanced (C1), Proficient (C2).
1.4 Course Duration
- Courses are designed to last 4, 8, or 12 weeks, with a total workload of 16, 32, or 48 hours.
- Course duration and schedules vary and are outlined in Annex II.
1.5 Number of Available Places
- A total of 325 places are available, distributed across 11 courses.
- Each class will have a maximum of 25 students.
- A waiting list will be available for additional applicants.
2. APPLICATION PROCESS
2.1 Application Period
- Applications are open until 12:00 (Brasília time) / 18:00 (Türkiye time) on 4 April 2025.
2.2 Required Documents
To apply, candidates must submit:
- A valid identification document (Passport, RNE, RNM, or CPF).
- If required for the chosen course:
- Proof of proficiency (for higher-level courses).
- A self-declaration form confirming the ability to follow classes at the chosen level.
2.3 How to Apply
- Applications must be submitted online through the official form:
- Application Form (available in Portuguese, English, Spanish, and French).
3. SELECTION CRITERIA
- Applications will be processed in order of submission.
- Incomplete applications will be disqualified.
- Priority will be given to historically underrepresented groups, such as black, indigenous, quilombola, and Roma applicants (40% of seats are reserved).
- Selected candidates will receive an email confirmation with further instructions and access details.
