Honorary Consuls

The main purpose of the Honorary Consulates is to provide assistance, whether urgent or not, to Brazilian citizens living in or passing through their jurisdiction.

An honorary consul is not a civil servant with a diplomatic career or a paid employee of the Brazilian state; he or she performs his or her duties on a voluntary basis.

Honorary Consulates are dedicated to serving Brazilian citizens only and are not authorized to issue passports, visas or notarial services. They can provide information to Brazilian citizens and assist them in forwarding their applications to the Consulate General in Istanbul.
