CPF for non-Brazilian citizens
CPF for non-Brazilian citizens
Foreign citizens who own or wish to own assets and rights subject to public registration in Brazil, including real estate, vehicles, vessels, aircraft, corporate holdings, bank accounts, or investments in the financial market, must register in the Individual Taxpayer Registry (CPF).
According to Ordinance COCAD/COGEA No. 53/2023 and COCAD/COGEA No. 55/2023, non-Brazilian citizens must submit their CPF applications, IN PERSON, at the nearest Brazilian consular office to their residence.
The CPF number is assigned only once (unique and definitive), with no possibility of a second registration. Therefore, the number must be kept in a safe place or be memorized. If you lost your CPF number, you must obtain it directly from Receita Federal (cpf.residente.exterior@rfb.gov.br).
Applications concerning changes, regularization, cancellation, reinstatement, and consultation of CPF (Brazilian Individual Taxpayer Registry), should be submitted directly to Receita Federal, by mail (cpf.residente.exterior@rfb.gov.br). These issues cannot be solved by the consulate.
CPF registration is free of charge.
