III Cúpula de Chefes de Estado e de Governo América do Sul-África (ASA)

A III Cúpula América do Sul-África (ASA) será realizada em Malabo, na Guiné Equatorial, em 22 de fevereiro de 2013. A Presidenta Dilma Rousseff chefiará a delegação brasileira à Cúpula. A ASA, criada em 2006, abrange 66 países da América do Sul e da África, cerca de um terço dos membros das Nações Unidas. Brasil e Nigéria atuam como coordenadores em suas respectivas regiões, que congregam população de 1,4 bilhão de habitantes (estimativa das Nações Unidas, 2011), e um PIB agregado de US$ 6 trilhões (dados do FMI).
O tema da Cúpula é "América do Sul e África: mecanismos e instrumentos para reforçar a Cooperação Sul-Sul".
Será organizado o Foro América do Sul-África para o Desenvolvimento Econômico e Comercial, que contará com a participação de empresários, associações empresariais, autoridades governamentais e instituições internacionais voltadas para o financiamento e a implementação de projetos de desenvolvimento.
Com o fim de promover o maior conhecimento recíproco, serão realizados, à margem da Cúpula, Festival de Cinema América do Sul-África, Exposição Fotográfica Sul-Americana, Mostra de Livros de Literatura Sul-americana e apresentações de grupos musicais das duas regiões.
O intercâmbio comercial entre os dois continentes vem se incrementando de maneira rápida, tendo passado de US$ 7,2 bilhões, em 2002, para US$ 39,4 bilhões, em 2011 (crescimento de 447%).

Third Summit of Heads of State and Government

of Africa-South America (ASA)

The Third South America-Africa Summit (ASA) will be held in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea on 22 February 2013. President Dilma Rousseff will head the Brazilian delegation to the Summit. The ASA, founded in 2006, congregates 66 countries of South America and Africa, about a third of the UN members. Brazil and Nigeria will act as coordinators in their respective regions, which account for 1.4 billion people (UN estimate, 2011), and an aggregate GDP of US$ 6 trillion (IMF data).

The theme of the Summit is "South America and Africa: mechanisms and instruments to strengthen South-South cooperation."

The South America-Africa Forum on Trade and Economic Development will gather entrepreneurs, business associations, government authorities and international institutions focused on financing and implementing development projects.

Aiming to promote mutual understanding, the following events will be held parallel to the Summit: South America-Africa Film Festival, South American Photographic Exhibition, South American Literature Books Exhibit, and performances by musical groups from both regions.

Trade between the two continents has increased significantly, rising from US$ 7.2 billion in 2002 to US$ 39.4 billion in 2011 (a 447% growth).
