CPF - Individual Taxpayer Registry in Brazil
CPF - Individual Fiscal Registry in Brazil
Brazilian nationals and foreigners (living in Brazil or residing abroad) whose assets in Brazil are subject to public registration (such as properties, vehicles, boats, airplanes, partnership, bank accounts or investment in the financial market) must apply for "Cadastro de Pessoa Física" - CPF (Individual Fiscal Registry).
The CPF - the Brazilian Individual Fiscal Number - is the unique number used to identify a person in Brazilian public service databases. The services of CPF registration, regularization, change, or cancellation are the responsibility of the Brazilian Federal Revenue Service.
How to request your CPF:
Step 1: Fill out the online form on the Federal Revenue Service website:
Disable your browser's pop-up blocker; otherwise, you will not be able to send the request.
After clicking "submit," a CPF Form (FCPF) number will be generated containing a service code.
Step 2 (for foreigners only): The foreigner must schedule a visit to the Consulate to complete their registration and receive their CPF number. After following step 1, access the e-consular system and choose the service "CPF Registration" (Inscrição no CPF para estrangeiros).
The following documents will need to be attached to the e-consular system:
- CPF Form (FCPF), duly completed and signed;
- Identification document of the interested party (passport, identity card, driver's license or work card, foreign residence document issued by the country in which the person resides, among others);
- Birth or marriage certificate or any other document that includes the name of the interested party and the name of their mother.
The documentation will be reviewed by the consular team to avoid unnecessary trips to the Consulate.
Once the documentation has been approved, applicants will be able to schedule their appointment through the e-Consular system.
