The role played by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply through its Secretariat of Animal and Plant Health is remarkable. They are responsible for the actions of State concerning topics ranging from animal and plant health, to the quality and identification of agricultural inputs, and of animal and plant products and by-products.

The health, phytosanitary, compliance and quality guarantees of these products and foods are part of the several steps of international trade and may be laid down by the Brazilian government during importation, or produced by more than 180 countries during exportation. Brazil’s Animal and Plant Health Authorities therefore play a vital role in negotiating, checking, and complying with such guarantees.
