Hydrometallurgical Process Laboratories
These laboratories are designed to develop and optimize hydrometallurgical processes on a bench scale, aiming to improve processes and obtain high-purity products that meet market specifications, and to develop and adapt techniques, methodologies and processes for removing contaminants contained in industrial waste and effluents.
There are two hydrometallurgical process laboratories in the Mineral Technology Service, one focused on environmental processes and the other focused on developing industrial hydrometallurgical processes, both aimed at industrial applications. These laboratories are used to perform discontinuous tests on leaching, solvent extraction, adsorption, sequential leaching, cementation and chemical precipitation, etc. They are equipped with conventional glassware, peristaltic pumps, mechanical and magnetic stirrers, ovens, ion exchange micro columns, vibrating mixers, centrifuges, pH meters, semi-quantitative scales, benchtop shakers, electric plates, water baths, etc.
