Thermophysical Properties Measurement Laboratory
The Laboratory is dedicated to the characterization of nuclear fuels and materials in general regarding their thermophysical properties.
Service provision: for industry, universities and research centers.
Human resources training: conducting doctoral, master's and scientific initiation work.
Outstanding activities: measuring the thermophysical properties of nuclear fuels such as UO2, UO2-BeO, U-Mo, UF4-Mg, (U,Gd)O2, UF4 and UZrNb and advanced materials under development at the CDTN in the area of nanotechnology (nanofluids and carbon nanotubes).
Services offered: Measuring the thermophysical properties (thermal diffusivity, specific heat and thermal conductivity) of various materials such as nuclear materials, ceramic materials, powders and liquids.
Main equipment
- Diffusivometer developed by the LMPT/CDTN team to determine the thermal diffusivity of solid materials using the Flash Laser method
- QuadruFlash 1200 diffusivometer used to measure thermal diffusivity using the Thermal Quadrupole method of liquid and solid materials (including powders and pastes).
Principais Resultados
- Measurement of thermophysical properties of nuclear fuels such as UO2, UO2-BeO, U-Mo, UF4-Mg, (U,Gd)O2,UF4 and UZrNb.
- Measurement of thermophysical properties of nanofluids and carbon nanotubes.
