Mechanical Testing Laboratory
Fracture mechanics concepts such as fracture toughness parameters and fatigue crack growth models are used to assess structural integrity. The Laboratory performs standardized tests in accordance with Technical Standards to characterize mechanical properties and evaluate their behavior under different types of mechanical stress. Tensile, compression, flexural-rotational fatigue, bending, impact, hardness, and creep tests are performed. machining of notches in Charpy-type test specimens and preparation of test specimens of sheets up to ¼”. The Laboratory's products include: obtaining mechanical properties in various materials such as biological and nanocomposites; providing services to different segments of the economy such as steel, oil, automobiles, etc.; training and qualification of human resources in the area of fracture mechanics.
