Purpose
Coordinate and carry out radiation protection, occupational safety and safeguarding activities within the scope of the CDTN, and exercise surveillance in order to ensure safe conditions in its workplaces.
Basic duties
- Support, in the aspects of nuclear and radiological safety, the certification and licensing processes of CDTN facilities, with the licensing agencies;
- Ensure that CDTN activities and facilities are executed and operated in accordance with regulatory safety, radiological protection and licensing requirements, with the prerogative to interrupt any activity that does not meet safety requirements;
- Advise the Director on matters of nuclear safety, radiological protection, safeguards and occupational safety;
- Contribute to the training of human resources in its area of activity;
- Develop actions in the areas of nuclear safety, radiological protection, occupational safety and safeguards upon delegation from the Director;
- Determine, guide and monitor, within the scope of the CDTN, the collection and initial storage of radioactive waste and radiation sources from CDTN facilities;
- Prepare and execute or coordinate the execution of the CDTN Nuclear Material Control Plan;
- Manage and promote improvements in the CDTN Radiological Protection Plan;
- Be the faithful depository of all records pertaining to radioprotection and safeguarding activities, ensuring their authenticity, adequate storage, traceability and auditability;
- Promote the culture of nuclear safety, radiological protection, occupational safety and safeguarding, developing training actions for people, as well as guidance and monitoring of activities developed at the CDTN;
- Perform activities related to occupational safety, aiming at the elimination, control or permanent reduction of the risks of occupational accidents;
- Propose guidelines for plans, programs and institutional standards for the prevention of occupational accidents;
- Advise other areas of the CDTN on activities that require the participation of Occupational Safety and Radiological Protection.
