The Non-Destructive Testing Laboratory of SEMAV (Strategic Minerals and Advanced Materials Service) conducts work aimed at detecting and characterizing discontinuities in structural materials and components using the following test methods: visual, ultrasound, eddy current, radiography, Barkhausen magnetic noise analysis, magnetic particles and penetrating liquids. Main activities: development of eddy current sensors, development of automated devices for conducting tests, preparation of test procedures, development of methodologies for characterizing materials and for evaluating nuclear fuels for research reactors using NDT methods.
Main Equipment
- X-ray equipment.
- Ultrasound equipment.
- Eddy current equipment
- Yoke: stationary equipment for circular and longitudinal magnetization
- Devices for applying uniaxial and biaxial loads to calibration specimens for measuring residual/applied stresses in structural materials
