The Lightning Rod and Smoke Detector Dismantling Laboratory - LABALFA is designed to treat radioactive lightning rods and smoke detectors, aiming to minimize the volume of waste to be stored. The high radiotoxicity of the radionuclide present in these devices requires a special facility for their handling. This Laboratory meets all safety and radiation protection requirements, and has received the Approval Certificate for the Installation Safety Analysis Report, issued by the Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Directorate of CNEN.
