Cementing Laboratory
The Cementing Laboratory - LABCIM of the Waste Management Service is equipped to carry out research and development work in the area of cementing and evaluating natural materials used in the Waste area. This Laboratory has a Quality Management System based on ISO/IEC ABNT NBR 17025:2005 implemented and the compressive strength test for cemented products is approved. Tests are performed here to determine parameters for the cementing of radioactive waste and other hazardous waste from nuclear activities and conventional industries. Tests are also performed to evaluate the quality of cemented products. This work is carried out in the form of basic and applied research projects, providing solutions for process improvement and qualification of cemented waste. The objective is to ensure that human beings and/or the ecosystem are not compromised during the handling, storage, transportation and disposal of waste.
