Equipped with sanders and polishers for metallographic preparation, optical microscope with image capture system, scanning electron microscope with EDS and Vickers and Knoop microhardness tester. The laboratory performs characterization and analysis of the microstructure of different materials, studies metallic, ceramic, polymeric materials, etc. Through the microstructure, it is possible to estimate the physical properties of the materials and analyze the causes of equipment failure.

- Metalizer (sputering)
- Optical microscopes with cameras.
- Magnifying glasses with 5 to 50 times magnification
- Microhardness tester for Vickers and Knoop hardness measurements.
- Polishing and electrolytic etching equipment.
- Sample preparation equipment.
