General Info
The CPF (in Portuguese, "Cadastro de Pessoa Física") is the Brazilian Individual Taxpayer Registry. It is often a required document for many transactions in Brazil, including (but not limited to) buying properties and opening bank accounts.
Required Documents and Procedures
- Filled-out “Individual Taxpayer Registration” form;
- Select "Singapore" for country and "Registration" under Fill Reason;
- When filling-in the form, "address" should be filled with only the street name, "number" refers to building number and "complement" refers to unit number; "Voter" and "Date of Exit" fields may be left blank;
- Click "Submit" and either print the receipt or take note of the number in the top right;
- Kindly make sure that there are no active pop-up blockers, as it won't allow the display of the confirmation page.
- Valid passport or RNE/RNM card;
- Official document attesting the applicant mother's name (such as birth or marriage certificates, IDs, passport, etc.).
Once CPF has been issued, proof of registration can be made through:
- presentation of the receipt given by the Embassy upon sucessfull registration or;
- presentation of certificate issued online by Receita Federal (Brazilian Tax Authority).
Fees and Processing Time
- All CPF-related procedures are free of charge.
- Applications are processed upon presentation of the documents and the document is issued on the spot.
- Please note that processing time may be extended in times of heavy workload or due to unforeseen circumstances.
