It is a Brazilian government initiative designed to finance projects aimed at boosting the new low carbon economy and creating economic development with environmental sustainability. The Climate Fund is financed through Sovereign Sustainable Bonds - raised by the National Treasury -, managed by the Ministry of Environment and operationalized by the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES). In 2024 alone, the fund released 2.5 times more resources than in the last 10 years combined. In addition, it intends to double the budget in 2025 to R$20 billion.
