September 30, 2025 | 08:15 – 09:15 | Room 111, Mondiacult, Barcelona, Spain
At Mondiacult 2025, the Group of Friends for Culture-Based Climate Action (GFCBCA), co-chaired by Brazil and the United Arab Emirates, will host the side event “Regional Knowledge Partners Advancing Culture in Climate Action.” The session will highlight national and regional experiences that integrate culture into climate agendas, reaffirming the essential role of cultural heritage, traditional knowledge, and creative sectors in shaping just, inclusive, and transformative climate responses.
The event will open with high-level remarks by the Ministers of Culture of Brazil and the UAE, followed by a panel discussion featuring regional knowledge partners who will share policies, programs, and lessons learned in advancing climate goals through culture.
By promoting cross-regional dialogue, the session aims to:
- Showcase how regional organizations are integrating culture into climate action.
- Share experiences that highlight the role of cultural policies, heritage, and creativity in advancing climate goals.
- Reflect on the growing global consensus around positioning culture more centrally in climate frameworks, in alignment with priorities from G20, Mondiacult 2025, and COP30.
