Climate change is a reality that deeply impacts economies and societies around the world. In this context, the Ministry of Finance has taken on an unprecedented role in leading Brazil’s climate agenda, bringing together economic growth, environmental sustainability, and social justice.
Through the Ecological Transformation Plan – New Brazil, the Ministry is structuring policies and instruments to drive sustainable and low-carbon development, while building a framework for climate adaptation and resilience. Ecological transformation is seen as a strategic opportunity to create green jobs, improve quality of life for the population, and enable Brazil to fulfill its NDC (Nationally Determined Contribution) on the path toward net-zero emissions by 2050.
The Ministry has also acted as a key player in Brazil’s presidency of COP30, advancing economic and climate proposals around the idea of sustainable globalization. Brazil is leading efforts to expand international climate finance, with the global goal of mobilizing at least USD 1.3 trillion annually by 2035, and is seeking to establish new standards for global financial governance based on inclusion, equity, and real progress.
