Resumo: Esta pesquisa se insere no campo dos estudos sobre patrimônio cultural e sua interface com as políticas públicas, memória e identidade. Assim, procuramos promover o debate sobre patrimônio e políticas públicas a partir da existência do NTU, um equipamento cultural, ligado à Universidade Federal da Paraíba, compreendendo este equipamento como um bem patrimonial cultural pertencente à cidade de João Pessoa. O NTU é protagonista no campo das artes cênicas na capital paraibana e desempenha um papel fundamental, ativo e influente, junto à comunidade artística da cidade, além de ser um equipamento à disposição do Curso de Bacharelado em Teatro, como também do Curso de Licenciatura em Teatro. Com base nisso, desenvolvemos uma discussão sobre a correlação entre o NTU e patrimônio histórico. Neste sentido, a Constituição Federal de 1988 é um marco importante ao apresentar uma compreensão mais larga do que é patrimônio, englobando não só o aspecto material, mas também imaterial das representações culturais brasileira. Muito embora não seja documentalmente reconhecido como patrimônio, o NTU reúne em si toda uma gama de atividades e práticas culturais, desenvolvidas ao longo de sua existência, que têm relevância para a memória, a identidade e a formação artística e cultural local. Neste sentido, pode-se pensar o patrimônio para além de bens de natureza material, mas também imaterial. A metodologia utilizada para este trabalho empregou uma abordagem mista, combinando pesquisa bibliográfica, documental, pesquisa de campo e entrevistas. A pesquisa bibliográfica permitiu mapear autores e autoras que desenvolveram pesquisas que abordam a temática de interesse deste trabalho, tais como: patrimônio, política públicas, IPHAN etc. Já a pesquisa documental envolveu a análise e interpretação de documentos históricos, registros institucionais, relatórios anteriores e outros materiais relevantes relacionados ao Núcleo de Teatro Universitário. As entrevistas foram conduzidas com indivíduos-chave, incluindo membros fundadores, diretores, professores e alunos envolvidos com o Núcleo ao longo de sua história. Isto permitiu uma compreensão abrangente e aprofundada do papel e da evolução do Núcleo de Teatro Universitário. A pesquisa apontou a necessidade de um olhar mais atento, por parte do poder público, que reconheça a contribuição do NTU como um equipamento de cultura que abrange em suas atividades a arte e a educação e que é portador de referência à identidade, à ação e à memória. Além disso, a necessidade de políticas públicas que não só reconheçam a importância deste equipamento, mas que promovam ações que visem ampliar sua contribuição à cultura e à educação na cidade de João Pessoa e no Estado da Paraíba.

Abstract: This research falls within the field of studies on cultural heritage and its interface with public policies, memory and identity. Thus, we seek to promote the debate on heritage and public policies based on the existence of the NTU, a cultural facility, linked to the Federal University of Paraíba, understanding this facility as a cultural heritage asset belonging to the city of João Pessoa. NTU is a protagonist in the field of performing arts in the capital of Paraíba and plays a fundamental, active and influential role in the city's artistic community, in addition to being a facility available to the Bachelor's Degree Course in Theater, as well as the Bachelor's Degree Course in Theater. Theater. Based on this, we developed a discussion about the correlation between NTU and historical heritage. In this sense, the 1988 Federal Constitution is an important milestone in presenting a broader understanding of what heritage is, encompassing not only the material but also the immaterial aspect of Brazilian cultural representations. Even though it is not documented as heritage, the NTU brings together a whole range of cultural activities and practices, developed throughout its existence, which are relevant to local memory, identity and artistic and cultural formation. In this sense, heritage can be thought of in addition to goods of a material nature, but also immaterial. The methodology used for this work employed a mixed approach, combining bibliographical and documentary research, field research and interviews. Bibliographical research allowed us to map authors who developed research that addresses the topic of interest in this work, such as: heritage, public policy, IPHAN, etc. Documentary research involved the analysis and interpretation of historical documents, institutional records, previous reports and other relevant materials related to the University Theater Center. Interviews were conducted with key individuals, including founding members, directors, teachers and students involved with the Center throughout its history. This allowed a comprehensive and in depth understanding of the role and evolution of the University Theater Center. The research highlighted the need for a more attentive look, on the part of the public authorities, that recognizes the contribution of the NTU as a cultural facility that encompasses art and education in its activities and that is a bearer of reference to identity, action and the memory. Furthermore, the need for public policies that not only recognize the importance of this equipment, but that promote actions that aim to expand its contribution to culture and education in the city of João Pessoa and the State of Paraíba.
