New market access in Sarawak, Malaysia, for Brazilian poultry and beef exports
The Brazilian government announces that, during the visit of the Minister of Agriculture of Sarawak, Malaysia, to Brazil, an agreement was reached on the International Sanitary Certificate (CSI) model for the export of Brazilian poultry and beef.
In 2024, Brazil exported over 30,000 tons of poultry and beef to Malaysia, totaling approximately USD 67 million. Sarawak, a state with a population of around 2.5 million, is located on an island separate from mainland Malaysia and has specific food import requirements. With the state’s approval of the International Sanitary Certificate, Brazilian exports to Malaysia are expected to grow significantly in the coming years.
With these new developments, Brazilian agribusiness secures its 44th market access in 2025, bringing the total to 344 new trade opportunities since the beginning of 2023.
These achievements result from the joint efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE).
