New agricultural market access in Nigeria to Brazilian bovine and buffalo embryos

The Brazilian government announces that Nigeria has authorized the import of bovine and buffalo embryos from Brazil, both in vivo and in vitro.

With a population exceeding 223 million and one of Africa’s largest economies, Nigeria imported more than USD 880 million in agricultural products from Brazil in 2024.

Beyond strengthening trade ties, the expansion of Brazilian agribusiness in Africa creates new opportunities for national producers, driven by the continent’s rapid population growth and strong economic potential.

With this latest approval, Brazilian agribusiness has secured nine new market access opportunities in 2025, bringing the total to 309 new trade openings since early 2023.

These achievements are the result of a coordinated effort between the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reaffirming Brazil’s commitment to expanding international partnerships.
