Brazil continues preparations to host the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup. On Tuesday, February 4, the federal government welcomed a delegation from the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) to discuss the country's official guarantees for the event. The meeting took place in Brasília and brought together representatives from various ministries and executive agencies.

"President Lula has asked us to ensure that nothing is lacking for the Women's World Cup. He understands the importance of major events for the country's image. We are hosting major events such as the G20 and COP 30 and working to bring the 2031 Pan American Games. Our goal is to organize a remarkable World Cup, one that will be beneficial for the country and the Brazilian people," said Sports Minister André Fufuca.

The ministry is coordinating the interministerial working group tasked with fulfilling the necessary conditions for Brazil to host the competition. The meeting was also attended by representatives from the Ministries of Finance, Labor and Employment, and Foreign Affairs, as well as officials from the Attorney General's Office of the National Treasury (Procuradoria-Geral da Fazenda Nacional) and the Office of the Attorney General of the Union (Advocacia-Geral da União).

GENERAL LAW - FIFA representatives will participate in technical meetings throughout the week to discuss details such as immigration, security, labor, taxes, and technology. Furthermore, a draft of the General Law for the 2027 Women’s World Cup—which will establish specific rules for hosting the tournament in Brazil—will be debated. This marks FIFA’s first visit to Brazil since the country was selected as the host.

GUARANTEES - "We are beginning to draft the official legal documents to ensure the event takes place. Our current task is to define the guarantees that will be incorporated into the General Law, including tax and visa exemptions as well as other FIFA requirements," said the Deputy Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Sport, Cynthia Lima.

HOST CITIES - During the meeting, FIFA confirmed that the list of host cities where the tournament matches will take place should be announced in the coming weeks and that the next few months will be crucial for defining the tournament's structural and operational details.

UNPRECEDENTED TITLE - Currently the Olympic silver medalist, the Brazilian women's national team will be seeking an unprecedented title at the World Cup. In the history of the competition, the United States dominates the international scene with four trophies, followed by Germany with two, while Japan, Norway, and Spain each have one title. Brazil's best result was a runner-up finish in 2007, after losing the final to Germany. The tournament in Brazil will take place from June 24 to July 25, 2027, featuring 32 teams. Although Brazil has yet to win a title, it boasts the tournament's all-time leading goalscorer, Queen Marta, who has amassed 17 goals in the competition.
