Brazil Secures New Market Access for Agribusiness in Japan
New Market Access for Agribusiness in Japan
Brazil and Japan have successfully concluded sanitary negotiations, paving the way for exports of Brazilian poultry, pork, and beef fat-based products to the Japanese market.
Japan, the world’s third-largest economy with a population of 125 million, is a key market for Brazilian agriculture, ranking as the 7th largest destination for its exports in 2024, with trade valued at US$ 3.3 billion. From January to July 2025, Brazilian agricultural exports to Japan reached US$ 1.8 billion.
This new authorization allows Brazil to supply poultry, pork, and beef fat-based products—essential components in animal feed and pet food production—further expanding its presence in one of the world’s most stringent markets. Already a leading supplier of soybeans and corn, Brazil strengthens its role as a vital partner in Japan’s food supply chain by diversifying its exports to include high-value animal-based raw materials.
Since the start of the current administration, Brazilian agribusiness has secured 422 new market access agreements across 71 countries, reinforcing its global leadership in agricultural trade.
These achievements reflect the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE).
