Brazil fortifies market diversification in February 2025

In February 2025, Brazil’s agribusiness exports amounted to US$11.24 billion, a modest 2.5% drop from the previous year. While exports of traditional staples like the soybean complex declined, the sector showcased its adaptability by broadening the international reach of a diverse array of products.

For instance, in the first two months of 2025, orange essential oils reached US$37.1 million in exports, up 14.9%, with significant growth in the European Union and China demonstrating Brazil’s appeal across continents. Likewise, dried piper pepper delivered striking results, climbing 146.6% to US$49.2 million, driven by global demand for distinctive, high-value offerings. Oilseeds, notably sesame, also excelled, soaring 213.8% to US$33.7 million and forging new trade routes into Asia and the Middle East.

The juice sector further illustrated this versatility, posting a robust 77.8% export rise to selective markets. Melons followed suit, with exports hitting US$29.6 million, a 57.1% increase, reinforcing the strong international draw of Brazilian fruits.

This expansion into less conventional exports and new markets—while preserving or enhancing domestic supply—delivers substantial benefits to Brazil’s economy. It generates jobs and income across various productive sectors, boosts foreign currency inflows, diversifies trade partnerships, and mitigates economic risks. Moreover, it elevates the global standing of Brazilian goods, encourages investment in innovation and sustainable practices, and deepens strategic trade relationships worldwide. Together, these efforts amplify Brazil’s international presence and fortify its economic resilience and competitiveness.

These achievements stem from the close collaboration between public and private sectors, with a dedicated focus on securing market access, maintaining high sanitary standards, and promoting Brazilian products globally, cementing the nation’s role as a global agribusiness powerhouse.
